Do Your Home work first!

CRM changes are not done in a month. Unlike some purchases, I’ve learned that with technology paying the bill can be the least painful part of the whole process. I have friends who can spend months looking for houses, cars, and other big-toys. Not me, I decided to buy and was living in my first house within a month. Same thing with my car, someone mentioned it to me and within in a week I was driving a gas guzzler just weeks before prices aimed for the sky. But not with the CRM, we took months to talk with consultants, arrange webinars, and sample products. Yet still, the process of changing over our complete database into a new structure has been quite the experience.

What did we learn? For one, check the integrity of companies in the first place as that is what forced the move. Who knew companies could promise you exclusivity to a product and then revoke those rights within a year. Again, to me this is just an exclamation point as to why one should do their homework before ever signing any lease, contract, or agreement with a third-party vendor. Remember, they’ve got to make big promises and pitches to close big deals.
